Lots of people have heard of the verse Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Such a wonderful verse! But the one I want to share with you today is earlier in the book, chapter one, verse six.
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
That verse has been a great comfort to me many days. How often do we feel downtrodden, backslidden, and that we’ll always be like this? As you may well know, feelings aren’t the most dependable things. But we can rest fully in the knowledge that Jesus, who raised people from the dead, is working on us and will NEVER give up.
“Leilah, I’m fine. I’m growing and have accepted that I’m not going go get it right every time. But so-and-so in my life is never going to change!”
Are God’s powers limited to work only in our own lives, or does He work in those around us as well? Good answer! So now read Philippians 1:6 again, but replace “you” with the name of the person you’re struggling with.
Doesn’t that give you so much hope?! It sure does me.
I have had the verse on my fridge for about a month and the idea that it’s not just for me but for those around me just happened this morning as I grabbed the butter. This is why the Bible is not just a collection of stories. It is living literature that will speak to each of us where we are.
What is a verse that has been particularly encouraging for you lately?
